Start Up Café

This is just not another café. It is the right place and right environment for mentoring youths, an idea that youth motivator BDG put into action

Starting any business has always been a ‘different’ experience for BDG primarily because to sustain a new business he realized only innovation and Research & Development is not the answer. One needs human resources, on whom an entrepreneur has to depend, people who have knowledge, skills and expertise in a particular field. Bikram Dasgupta has been a youth motivator all his life and loved talking to youngsters, sharing his own real life stories with them, give a vision to their dreams.

But to talk to youngsters one needs a place where one can create the right environment for a meaningful dialogue blending ‘Serious Fun’ and ‘Structured Passion.’ Thus, was born the idea of a Start Up Café that would have both the fun and the serious part combined.

Globsyn AIW

When an entrepreneur does business in mid-life it is always innovative, and BDG proved that through his Globsyn AIW venture

Globsyn has outperformed everywhere with its varied services, products and expertise. Unlike most other IT companies, instead of specializing only in one sector, it diversified into many. Artificial Intelligence product was one such business that gave rise to Globsyn AIW. Such ventures need an evangelist, but even if someone gives the initial break, sustainability is a big issue. One needs to be a qualified vendor to get work from large companies multinational tech giants.

From Data labelling through AI and ML, Globsyn AIW succeeded in all and thanks to BDG’s son Romit it is still on with flying colours. Since Romit had a combination of technical and financial education it was easier for him to create a production engineering set up. An entrepreneur decides what company he will build and undoubtedly BDG did many.

LAUNCH OF ‘I Did It My Way’ – Story of a middle-class Bengali boy whose impatience became the reason for his success

Launch of BDG’s book paved the way for the world to know that here was and is a man who never did shy away from ‘Thinking Big.’

He always dreamt big – he always did it big and yes, he never had the word ‘Fear’ in his dictionary. No wonder Bikram Dasgupta is still hailed by many big wigs of the IT industry as the man with a vision far ahead of his times, who had the guts to implement that vision and his dreams in real life, come what may. BDG is a man who has seen it all --- from the curious boy who joined IIT Kharagpur to have some ‘serious fun’ to selling oxygen cylinders in his first job, to co-founding number one PC company in India during his time, to bringing Dell to India, and then leaving a high paid job to start his own independent venture in an era when startups were not even thought of and then building a worldwide Globsyn empire.

BDG believes the life of an entrepreneur never ends. Because the ideas never come to a stop, it continues to create new ventures and new avenues of work. He loves creating his own milestones and speaks of his real-life experiences in his book I Did It My Way. The book is indeed a great documentation of the life of an entrepreneur that will help the aspiring youngsters of today to emerge ‘big’ and dream ‘big.’
