BEYOND EDUCATION: Turning Youngsters into better human beings
Adding life values beyond classroom education, this was an innovative idea brought in by BDG that makes GBS stand out from the rest of the business schools
Running of any institution largely depends on the person who runs it. For Bikram Dasgupta running of GBS was like an innovative project where he brought in ideas that were never heard of before and implemented them with a vision that none matched at that time. For him the GBS classroom was only the nucleus, subjects like finance, marketing, economics were taught but studies covered 30-40 percent of the curriculum. He believes the rest as high as 60 percent should come hands on from the industry, society and environment leading to the concept of Beyond Education and Beyond Classrooms --- innovative ideas that has truly made GBS a class apart.
BDG tried to create an ecosystem where the students could learn in a different way because he had observed that most students in colleges of Bengal become slack due to regimental training that one gets at the school level. So once such students come for a post-graduation MBA degree their mindset is different. To guide them through the right course of education and training an alternate route was thus discovered by him called Beyond Education that still thrives and brings in the best in each student.
GLOBSYN CRYSTALS: First Social Infrastructure Project of Kolkata
After the success of Infinity that was primarily about Technology, Bikram Dasgupta decided to give Kolkata a taste of Social Infrastructure where youngsters and software engineers could meet post work. Thus, was born the imposing Globsyn Crystals that still stands tall in the heart of Sector V

In an era when India, let alone Kolkata could not even think of an intelligent building, BDG made that happen through Infinity. But he did not stop at that. Soon he came up with a bigger project, Globsyn Crystals, that would be the first Social Infrastructure project of Kolkata. If Infinity was for the IT sector, Globsyn Crystals was for the BPO sector. BDG brought in the Social Architecture model on international lines with Globsyn Crystals having everything, someone needs after work -- from coffee shops to entertainment zones, to medicine shops, apart from the office spaces.
Globsyn Crystals was a bigger project than Infinity and BDG collaborated with Pradip Sureka to tide over the fund crunch he faced while pulling up such a huge project. In those days, bank loans were not easy and were at a very high interest rate, but as BDG always believes if you use your brain to structure a business, the solution will always be there and if you focus 24x7 on the work you do, you can go for big business. Globsyn Crystals is an example of how BDG pulled something enormous, despite challenges at every bend.

GBS GLOBAL CAMPUS: Where the best of world meets
Globsyn Business School started having meaningful collaborations with some of the best business schools of the world, particularly based in USA and UK. That helped both students and faculty of the Kolkata campus to have a taste of global education
BDG has always considered himself as a global citizen. As an extension of that mindset, he wished to give the students of GBS a taste of the world. GBS went global with international standards thrust in by collaborating with the best of business schools of the world, particularly based in UK and USA. From Tulane University to Coventry and many more, world class faculty came down to Kolkata for the first time to teach the students in GBS and share their ideas and themselves learn too. Thus, an international ecosystem was created at GBS where world class faculty worked shoulder to shoulder with the Indian faculty. Yet there was no show, no shout out in the media. BDG kept it low deliberately for he said this is how it should be, every business school should do this and thus the students too got used to this new format. GBS thus reached international standards.
